Textiles are a marvelously versatile material. They
can be unfolded and spread out or neatly folded away. They can be
used to wrap things, as traditional furoshiki or to act as a screen
affording privacy, as with the noren which appear in Japanese doorways
in the summer. My aim is to create designs that recognise and enhance
the versatility of the fabrics. |
